An IT generalist and polymath with a background in all phases of software development from requirements to design to programming to testing to support. Experience also includes systems and infrastructure design and implementation in multiple areas, including compute, storage, networking, and security.

Since 2020 I have worked on the customer online ordering system. Led development from requirements through to deployment and support. Technologies used include a mixture of Azure services and on-premises hosting, Web APIs, Web Services, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, and Twilio SendGrid.

From 2008 to 2020, I worked on Infrastructure/Server Engineering and Security Architecture teams. Identity management (IAM) lead engineer. Designed and developed infrastructure solutions using ESX/ESXi, Linux, and Windows. Programmed and assisted in automation solutions, including scripting and web applications. Experience includes: VMware vSphere, Infinio Accelerator, HPE rack-mount (DL) and blade (BL) servers, HPE 3PAR storage, Brocade SAN, HPE Virtual Connect, HPE OneView, F5 BIG-IP (including API), Infoblox DDI, Aruba ClearPass, IBM WebSEAL reverse proxy, PingFederate federated single sign-on, PingID multi-factor authentication, Avatier Identity Management Suite for Self-Service Password Reset, PCI logging (SIEM), secure file transfers, data center design and configuration (including migration and consolidation), DevOps committee, and cloud services proof-of-concept (AWS and Azure). 

From 1999 to 2008, I programmed in Perl, SQL (Microsoft and Oracle), SofTechnics Report Writer, C, C#, Visual Basic 6 & .NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and VB-Script. Coded as well as unit, integration, system, and certification tested retail, in-store applications. Architectures ranged from thin-client character-based applications to distributed web-based systems heavily utilizing web services (SOA). Held leadership roles on customer-facing kiosk application, the Publix Connection intranet portal, and supply chain projects. Acted as requirements analyst and support analyst on distributed supply chain applications. Worked in and authored documentation for various phases of the development life cycle, including functional and non-functional requirements, user interface design, detailed design specifications, testing, and support. 

From 1994 to 2008 I programmed in C, Unix shell, Progress 4GL, and dBASE. Wrote TCP/IP interface with state Department of Law Enforcement (FCIC II on CJIS CJNet). Installed, configured, and maintained firewall, DNS server, Internet E-mail server, proxy server, and Web server. Developed first Web site and its interfaces with existing systems, including warrants and jail search. Designed and led database application projects. Gathered requirements from users. Solved end-user problems. Installed and repaired hardware. Built and repaired microcomputers. Researched, evaluated, and implemented LAN/WAN hardware and software—including Internet and wireless (CDPD) access. Worked closely with and sometimes acted as Unix System Administrator. Occasionally filled-in for supervisor. 

Before that, I was self employed and my work included: programming (mainly in C and Pascal) custom applications, customizing off-the-shelf software, consulting, computer-aided drafting (with AutoCAD, including AutoLISP automation), database management, desktop publishing, networking, and bookkeeping.
