Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer to join our IT team in Boone, N.C.  You can be helping the ministry in all things Network Engineering related every day!  As a Jr. Network Engineer, you will be developing methods and tools to be used to test and implement new LAN/WAN equipment, and responsible for the installation and support of network hardware and software services.  Bring your Networking knowledge to help support a mission critical Network team.  Come and use your gifts daily to advance the Gospel!

A day in the life of a Jr. Network Engineer:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do!  We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Jr. Network Engineer you will have the opportunity to:
  • Help support integrity of network services such as e-mail, Internet, VPN, and\or telephone service under general direction of senior staff. 
  • Maintain support for back-end services required by ministry applications at all layers (1-7) of OSI models. 
  • Provide first tier Networking support, ticket resolution, and various assignments for Network Team members. 
  • Enhance communication between Global IT Service Desk and Global Infrastructure Teams. 
  • Install and support network hardware and software service under direction of senior staff. 
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot desktop and server hardware and related operating system software. 
  • Develop and maintain effective network and systems documentation. 
  • Configure network devices for new deployments per direction of senior staff, configure replacement network devices from backup configuration files.
  • Available to provide on-call support as needed by management to fulfill the department Service Level Agreement and Internal Operating Procedures

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • General knowledge of LAN/WAN solutions.
  • General knowledge of network routers and switches including Cisco, Juniper or similar products.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies preferred but not required
