Position Summary

Come Near is hiring a Community Manager to help people have honest and thoughtful interactions with He Gets Us across social platforms and digital communities. The ideal candidate understands the internet as a real place where people ask questions, disagree, raise concerns, and decide whether a conversation feels safe. That takes a strong writer. A sharp listener. Someone who remains calm under pressure. Someone who doesn’t get weird when the internet gets weird. They need to speak naturally across different platforms and emerging channels. TikTok shouldn’t sound like Instagram. Reddit shouldn’t sound like a press release. They should bring emotional maturity to real conversations and know how to spot and respond to sensitive ones. They’ll also help us learn from what we’re hearing. Comments and DMs show us what people are asking, what they’re carrying, where we have been unclear, and where more care is needed. This role also reaches beyond the screen by helping connect digital community work to real-world experiences, events, and activations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage and moderate He Gets Us community spaces across social platforms and emerging channels.
Respond to comments, DMs, and community conversations with good judgment, care, and theological clarity.
Adapt tone and response style to each platform so the work feels natural wherever it shows up.
Know when to answer questions, when prayer is appropriate and welcome, and when and how to de-escalate a situation.
Recognize signals that reveal a sensitive conversation or a moment that needs more care or review.
Help community members participate in He Gets Us in ways that are honest, thoughtful, and not pressured.
Turn real community questions into useful content and clearer responses.
Surface what people are asking, misunderstanding, resisting, and responding to so the team can understand and respond.
Monitor community health and help the team understand where people feel heard, confused, dismissed, or invited.

Education & Experience

5+ years of experience in community management, social media management, or audience engagement for a brand, organization, or platform
Demonstrated experience moderating and responding to public comments and direct messages across multiple social platforms, including handling sensitive or difficult conversations with care and discernment
Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice across different platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, Substack)
Experience working in an environment involving sensitive subject matter (healthcare, mental health, education, faith-based, or similar) where emotional intelligence and judgment are critical
