Role Summary

This post is responsible for the effective provision of production at our London Centre and Ordinand residentials, ensuring smooth operation of all aspects of audio-visual for teaching, worship and events, maintenance and development of equipment and technical resources.

Key Tasks

Production Management

Maintain and develop production at our London Centre; support East Midlands and South West centres with their production needs
Serve as point of contact with HTB Production Team
Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of sound systems, lighting, and projection equipment in liaison with HTB Production
Manage and operate audio-visual equipment during London Monday and London Tuesday teaching days and events, including acting as onsite technical support
Manage and operate all production at offsite College residentials (four weekends and one week annually) and Teaching Weeks (twice annually at London Centre)

Coordination & Communication

Book freelance production for Beginning Theology (8-week terms)
Supervise and delegate tasks to the HTB Junior Production Engineer during London Monday teaching days
Collaborate with worship leaders and the London Centre Coordinator to ensure seamless integration of multimedia elements into College teaching days
Communicate in a timely, professional, and efficient manner with staff and students regarding production and audiovisual requirements
Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders (HTB Production, lecturers, staff, students)
Keep the Communications and Fundraising Manager and wider leadership appraised of production developments

Technical Duties

Create a recording schedule for dispersed learning
Edit audio and video recordings
Maintain and update equipment inventory, ensuring all gear is in good working condition
Participate in sound checks and rehearsals to fine-tune audio levels and lighting cues
Support production needs at SMC Staff Meetings as required
Stay updated on emerging audio-visual technologies and recommend upgrades when necessary

Other Responsibilities

Undertake other duties as assigned by the Head of Communications or Communications Manager
Contribute to the wider operations team: hospitality during teaching days, general office support, and administrative duties
Work at ordinand residentials or other college events as required (time off in lieu arranged)
Attend staff meetings, annual staff retreat, key gatherings, college events, and HTB Group Staff Meetings
Attend conferences and events as required, including Leadership Conference and Summer Festivals (Focus, New Wine, CreationFest or equivalent)

Essential Competencies

Technical Skills

Experience using and understanding sound, vision, and lighting desks
Experience mixing sound in a live environment
Knowledge of live streaming
Knowledge and experience of Adobe Audition for editing
Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

Personal Qualities

Understanding of Christian worship, music, and church styles
Customer service driven with a servanthood approach
Ability to prioritise and coordinate workloads
Flexible, reliable, and proactive team player
Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills

Job Requirements & Benefits

Contract: Part-time (0.5 FTE)

Working Hours:

Mondays: 8:00am – 5:30pm
Tuesdays: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
Thursdays: Half day
Teaching Weeks: 10 days per year (two weeks)
Residentials: Four weekends plus one week annually (some travel required)

Location: London Centre (with hybrid working available; minimum two days per week onsite). Some limited UK travel may be required.

Employer: St Paul's Theological Centre (SPTC), a constituent part of St Mellitus College and part of the HTB Group

Holiday: 25 days per annum (pro rata). Holidays are typically granted around term times and half-terms. Holiday year runs January–December.
